What I learned from 100 days of rejection | Jia Jiang | Day 55 – 100 Days 100 Thoughts
Hello Folks !!
All of us have dreams. All of us work for our dreams, but one thing that stops us from reaching there is rejections. Rejection is inevitable but how deal with it defines us. Watch this wonderful TED Talk by Jia Jiang on the topic “What I learned from 100 days of rejection”.
Welcome Back !!
It is one of my favorite TED Talks in the series so far. Rejection is something that we fail to address. We have been taught to chase success, which might not be the right thing always but in order to achieve success rejections and failures had to be faced. In this talk Jia takes us through a wonderful journey where to makes himself ready to face the rejection and pursue further. I am using the word further rather than harder because when he faces rejection he accepts the same and questions further.
When you face rejection, ask why. Embrace your rejection, understand and explore it. Always we find it hard to accept it. We all are never taught how to deal with rejection, it may be due to parenting, it may be due to our immaturity, or many other reasons but the problem is we don’t know how to face rejection. Rejection and failures are part of the journey. You cannot skip that part to achieve success. When you are slapped with rejection, don’t run. Rejections are hard, embracing them is the only way for us to understand our end goals. Rejections define our journey.
Most of the time either we run away from rejection or retribute for rejection. We fail to learn our lessons from rejection. We fail to have a conversation, most of the problems can be solved by asking the right questions. Let’s embrace rejections, let’s ask the reasons, and let’s figure out the way forward. Just like Jia Jiang says “When you get rejected in life, when you are facing the next obstacle or next failure, consider the possibilities. Don’t run. If you just embrace them, they might become your gifts as well.”
