100 Days 100 Thoughts | Day 12 — Jon Bowers
Howdy Folks !!
Yesterday, we saw in detail about having a healthy relationship with stress. Stress is something which helps in achieving perfection. We have demonized stress and the other thing we demonized is perfectionism. Today’s talk is by Jon Bowers who speaks on the topic, “We should aim for perfection — and stop fearing failure.”
Welcome Back !!
Jon Bowers in his wonderful talk says how the self-help industry is growing exponentially on sowing the thought it’s okay to be imperfect. This is where he says an important thing which many thought leaders fail to do so. It’s perfectly okay to fail but it is not okay to accept yourself as a failure. Try, fail, learn and achieve until it is perfect. We fail and it is essential for us to fail and the remaining part of learning from failure and achieving perfection is not taught to us. We have been sowed the thought that it’s okay to fail and stay there.
Just imagine the scenario where you think you set a standard of 99% and the person following you sets a standard of 99% of yours and the list goes on and after a while, the standard looks far away from the original one. This is where the problem gets bigger. All of us should work on achieving perfection by accepting failure as a part of the journey and not the destination.
