3 ways to make better decisions — by thinking like a computer | Tom Griffiths | Day 66 – 100 Days 100 Thoughts
Hello Folks !!
All of us want to make better decisions. We have the urge to be perfect, rational, and successful. Decision-making is an important aspect that defines the success rate of the above factors. We badly need to improve our decision-making abilities to achieve what we wanted and Tom Griffiths says that we can learn this from computers. This might look strange but this is no different from following your successful idol, in fact, this is technically better than following your idol. Let me not take more of your time and take you right to the TED Talk by Tom Griffits titled “3 ways to make better decisions — by thinking like a computer”.
Welcome Back !!
This is an interesting topic and the points I wish to discuss from this talk are even more interesting. We all strive to achieve perfection and avoid failure at all costs but one of the key things that we learn is we are going to fail on many occasions and that’s the best thing we can do. We had to be rational to understand the potential failure and not be too hard on ourselves. The most important question we need to ask is, are we aware of the potential failure of this process and working with that in mind? It is perfectly fine to fail and move on. Now, this looks like a Motivational Talk in CAPS, but it is not. I am one of the people who are too hard on myself, I still struggle to take failure easily although I have come a long way, I kind of know the long way ahead. This message from the speaker is a much-needed reinforcement to all of us. We need to understand the phase we are in, whether it is an explorative or exploitative phase, and decide based on that. Let us be more empathetic towards ourselves and others.
